Cinnamon is one of the oldest tonic plants on the globe. Chinese medicinal use dates back 4,700 years and early Egyptians used cinnamon in their embalming mixtures.
It is not the fruit of this plant, but the fragrant bark that is harvested for use. The essential oil is used to perfume soaps, cosmetics, toothpastes and medicines. Cinnamon is currently produced in Ceylon, India and China.
