 Gluten-Free
Many people must seek out products that are free from irritants, chemicals or certain ingredients. Synthetic (man-made) ingredients are a common source of trouble for many, but even naturally existing ingredients can be problematic for those with allergies and sensitivities.
We have received numerous phone calls and e-mails from customers concerned about gluten. In response to those inquiries, we have labeled each gluten-free product to make shopping easier.
What is gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in rye, barley, triticale, oats and wheat. Gluten is mainly found in foods, but it can also be found in personal care products as well as stamp and envelope adhesive.
How can gluten affect the body?
Even though gluten is a completely natural protein, it will cause an adverse reaction in an individual with an allergy or intolerance to it. It can cause a wide range of symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, anemia, seizures and itchy skin rash. In people with celiac disease, gluten causes the immune system to damage the small intestine, which interferes with the absorption of food nutrients.
As with any allergen or irritant, avoidance is key.
Where do I find gluten-free personal care products?
We have created a Gluten-Free area on our Web site where you will find all the gluten-free personal care products we offer. Each gluten-free product is also labeled in its description with a gluten-free symbol. If you do not see the symbol, that particular product is not gluten-free.
We appreciate and encourage your feedback and inquiries. As always, we make it a priority to answer and accommodate your questions as quickly as possible.
Live well,
The Obermeyers
