Patchouli
 Patchouli(Pogostemon cablin)
- Patchouli oil is extremely effective in soothing dry, cracked skin and can help in alleviating skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis and acne. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, which can be used to treat athlete’s foot and dandruff. It is also known to rejuvenate cells that aid in the healing of scar tissue.
- Patchouli oil has a musky, earthy scent that can help reduce tension and insomnia. Historically, it has been used to treat everything from anxiety and depression to PMS symptoms and water retention.
- Like wine, patchouli oil gets better with age, a unique trait among essential oils. Fresh patchouli oil is green and has a sharp scent. As it ages, the color deepens to dark amber and the scent becomes more sweet and spicy.
- The patchouli plant is a member of the mint family. It is a large, brushy herb that can reach up to three feet in height. It originates from Southeast Asia and prefers tropical climates.
